What started out was a passive interest has turned into a complete shift for how we create imagery and work with clients. Film is a lovely, imperfect medium that allows room for quiet moments, transforms tricky light into a dreamy glow, and showcases vibrant, natural colors that we love. The limitations of film have pushed us to be more intentional with every frame, and think about how to move through photographing a wedding day.

our approach

Working with film has refined what we want to capture, and allowed us to step back and observe in moments that we hadn't previously.

It's taught us how to read light and create images that can beautifully represent what's in front of us. There's a handmade feel to film images, a surprise that always is present in the best art. It's not perfect, but that imperfection leaves space for humanity and honesty.

We shoot with a variety of film cameras, including medium format and 35mm. Each wedding day and lighting situation is different, and we often let the moment tell us which medium works best, whether that's film or digital.

We are equipped and ready to shoot film in a variety of lighting situations, but we also want to set great expectations for our clients.

For this reason, we don't guarantee a certain number of film rolls or a specific ratio. Typically, our galleries are around 30% film/70% digital, but it doesn't always turn out that way. Weddings with more natural light and outdoor moments tend to allow us to use more film than indoor weddings.

our process

If you also love film and want to see if your wedding would be a great fit for us shooting a lot of film, or if you're interested in an all-film wedding, please let us know. We want to be completely up front and honest with what our capacity is to create great work on any wedding day.
