Artistry

filed in:

The fourth scene we photographed at The Inspired Retreat was called “Artistry,” and it was as meditative as it was moving. Set in a weathered old farmhouse, the space was filled with natural texture, faded wood, soft window light, and the quiet hum of creative focus.

There was something powerful about photographing someone not posing, but doing something they love. The scene wasn’t styled in the traditional sense, no elaborate florals or couture gowns, but it had its own kind of beauty: honest, lived-in, human.

This editorial reminded me how moving portraits can be when they’re rooted in process, not just presentation. It’s a kind of storytelling I’d love to bring more of into my work, whether it’s bridal portraits, editorial sessions, or quiet wedding day moments that deserve to be held with just as much care.

More from The Inspired Retreat still to come.

From The Inspired Retreat

I'm inspired by my relationships with my high-school sweetheart husband, and with my three younger sisters, by antique stores and great music, by watching  great tv and movies or an underdog win a sports game, and most of all by the persistence by which we choose to celebrate together and love each other well.

I'm Maggie, a Georgia-based photographer specializing in documenting weddings along the east coast. My mission with photography is to help people fall in love with the imperfect moments, and see those moments as art. Noticing these things are what help us see each other better.
